
Meet Shirley Shivhon
Ciao!
My name is Shirley, and I am a yoga and meditation teacher, as well as a Reiki practitioner.
I grew up on the sunny coastline of Southern California and spent a decade living in Hawai'i before following my heart to the hills of Tuscany in 2015.
While living in Los Angeles, I studied and practiced at Maha Yoga in Brentwood, where I had the honor of coordinating workshops, events, and retreats for Steve Ross of Inhale Yoga (on the Oxygen network).
In today’s high-intensity, fast-paced world, yoga and meditation have been my go-to tools for cultivating inner balance, resilience, and presence. Over the years, I’ve completed extensive trainings in power/vinyasa yoga, meditation, Ashtanga yoga, kids’ yoga, yin yoga, Reiki (Level 2), and various energy healing modalities.
Academically, I hold a BA in Arts and Sciences from Maharishi International University (MIU), and I’ve completed the Master’s in Yoga Studies at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. I am currently completing a second Master’s degree in Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, also at MIU.
I take great joy in teaching both dynamic vinyasa flow and gentle, meditative practices. I design each class with care and attention to the unique needs of my students, creating personalized and transformative experiences rooted in tradition, science, and spirit.
My daily practice is the foundation of my life—it informs my teaching and my approach to living moment by moment.
Currently, I lead private and small group yoga sessions in and around Florence, as well as in select luxury hotels and villas across Tuscany. I also organize bespoke wellness retreats and serve as a faculty member at one of Florence’s oldest and most prestigious higher education institutes, where I teach courses in yoga philosophy, mindfulness, Ayurveda, and Eastern spiritual traditions.
